String Audition Information

Live auditions are preferred. In the event of hardship, high-quality video would be acceptable. Please contact Mark Laycock, Director of Strings, to schedule an audition or confirm method delivery of video materials at mark.laycock@wichita.edu

Violin Graduate Audition requirements:
1. One movement from a major concerto
2. One complete unaccompanied Bach Sonata or Partita
3. One additional contrasting piece of repertoire

Assistant Professor of Violin: Betul Soykan

Viola Graduate Audition requirements:
1. A complete Bach Suite
2. One movement from a concerto such as Bartok, Walton, Der Schwanendreher, Stamitz, or         Hoffmeister
3. One additional contrasting piece of repertoire

Associate Professor of Viola: Catherine Consiglio

Cello Graduate Audition requirements:
1. One movement of a classical, romantic or 20th century concerto for cello and orchestra.
2. One movement of a classical, romantic or 20th century sonata for cello and piano.
3. One 20th century or contemporary piece for cello solo
4. Complete suite for cello solo by J.S. Bach

Assistant Professor of Cello: Leonid Shukaev

Double Bass Graduate Entrance Audition requirements:
1. Two movements from J.S. Bach Cello Suites
2. A movement from a major double bass concerto or concert piece by Koussevitsky, Dittersdorf, Bottesini, Rota, etc., or a major sonata by Hindemith, Micek, etc.
