The Academic Institutional Research Discipline

Data gathering and analysis in Institutional Research is focused on improved understanding, planning, management, and operation of post secondary educational institutions. Some institutional research examples include retention and graduation studies, enrollment management studies, student impact studies, academic program review, and cost analysis studies.

Mission Statement

The mission statement of the Office of Institutional Research is to develop, maintain and distribute accurate information to assist academic and administrative decision making at Wichita State University. The office serves the entire university community as a depository and clearinghouse for institutional data; responds to internal and external requests for data and research; initiates and conducts studies; and provides consultation on institutional research related activities within the university.
