Project Lead The Way Core Training

Summer 2014
at Wichita State University


Wichita State University will host Engineering (high school), Gateway (middle school), and Launch (elementary) Core Trainings on the WSU campus in summer 2014.  All will be taught by PLTW Master Teachers.

Registration is now OPEN through the PLTW Extranet

The following two-week Engineering Core Training sessions are planned for July 20 - August 1, 2014.

  • Introduction to Engineering Design (IED)
  • Principles of Engineering (POE)
  • Engineering Design and Development (EDD)

Cost for each two-week training session is $2300 and includes:

  • Orientation and lunch on Sunday, July 20, 2014
  • Weekday lunches and snacks
  • All supplies needed for training

The following Gateway Core Training sessions are planned:

  • Just Added! -- June 9-11 - Science of Technology (ST)
  • Just Added! - June 11-13 - Magic of Electrons (ME)
  • July 14 - July 18 - Medical Detectives (MD)
  • July 21 - July 25 - Design and Modeling (DM)
  • July 28- August 1 - Automation and Robotics (AR)

Cost for each one-week training session is $1150 and includes:

  • Weekday lunches and snacks
  • All supplies needed for training

The following Launch (elementary) sessions are planned.  Registration for Launch Training is NOW OPEN through the PLTW Extranet.  You may register for either Session 1 or Session 2:

  • Session 1:
    • July 14, 8:00am - 5:00pm
    • July 15, 8:00am - 5:00pm
    • July 16, 8:00am - 12:00pm
  • Session 2:
    • July 16, 1:00pm - 5:00pm
    • July 17, 8:00am - 5:00pm
    • July 18, 8:00am - 5:00pm

Cost for each 2 1/2 day Launch training is $650.


All teachers attending Core Training must bring their own laptop with software installed. Please see the guidelines established by PLTW for laptop and software requirements.

Hotel: A special group rate has been secured for PLTW registrants at the Drury Plaza Hotel in Wichita.  The PLTW rate is $114/night (plus tax). The Drury is recently remodeled and sits right on the Arkansas River with many amenities including easy access to walking paths and downtown, free hot and cold breakfast, evening "Kickback" that includes food and beverages, free wireless Internet, and free parking (only for PLTW registrants). Reservations must be made by Wednesday, June 11, 2014 to receive the group rate. There is a direct link to registration for PLTW Core Training participants.
