Behavioral Community Action & Research Team

 

Introduction & Current Projects

The Behavioral Community Research and Action Team is focused on conducting community-based research that promotes the health of adolescents, emerging adult populations and reducing health disparities among Racial and Ethnic groups.  The Behavioral Community Research and Action Team currently is working with a number of community-based organizations  including the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Kansas, Health CORE Clinic, Storytime Village, Rise Up for Youth, Sunflower Community Action, and the Witnessing Project of Kansas.


Research Projects Include: Substance use and abuse issues among adolescents and emerging adults, Evaluating the Effectiveness of the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Kansas, Assessing the Educational Aspirations of Youth attending local high schools, Examining Veterans Health and Wellness, Examining the Relationship between Stereotype Threats and Gender and Sexual Minorities in health care settings, Psychological well-being of Black youth, Assessing the Opinions of College students concerning gun control, Examining the well-being of College students on college campuses, and Promoting Literacy among disenfranchised communities.
