Animator Academy

Students involved in this course will explore animation creation, simple programming, and basic web design through free tools you can continue to use at home. During this Animator Academy event, there will be some group instruction in the beginning. Students will create an animated story about themselves to share with others. There will be one-on-one instruction and each child will create their own project.

The primary tool used for these classes will be Scratch, a programming language developed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) that makes it easy and fun to create your own interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art.  The Scratch website explains that "as young people create and share Scratch projects, they learn important mathematical and computational ideas, while also learning to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively."
