Wichita State University Employee Recognition Program
Length of Service is calculated for determining service recognition for state and affiliated benefits-eligible employees. Time counted will be from the original date of hire in a benefits-eligible position. An employee who earns sick and/or vacation leave is considered to be benefits-eligible.
Service Credit is for calculation of state classified longevity bonuses. Service credit differs from length of service in that temporary time before April 30, 1984 is counted in this calculation.
Bender of Twigs is for the purpose of honoring state and affiliated benefits-eligible employees for 25 years of service to Wichita State University. Some exclusions and time at other state agencies would not be included in calculating for Bender of Twigs. A list of previous Bender of Twigs is available.
Dates for Service Recognition: Service recognition ceremonies are held in September. As of 2005, September 1 is the cutoff date in figuring length of service. For example, employees who reach anniversary dates from Sept. 2, 2009 to Sept. 1, 2010 will be recognized in September 2010. Note: June 30 is used as the cutoff date for the 40-year service recognition that the Governor sponsors each year in Topeka.
