STUDENT HEALTH SERVICES

Wichita State University Student Health Service

Summer Camp:

Student Health Services is here to address your health care needs throughout the summer. Here are some tips to help us provide you with friendly and professional summer health care services.

  • For routine health care services, schedule an appointment by calling (316) 978-3620. We will perform an assessment and provide care based on the assessment.
  • Minor first aid will be provided on a walk-in basis subject to availability of personnel.
  • If the individual needs prescription medication, laboratory services or further emergency care, they will be referred to their primary health care provider.
  • A minor MUST have a medical release form and a HIPAA privacy form (available on our website) signed by a parent or guardian in order to be seen.
  • All students seeking health care services should bring information about their health insurance coverage and the name of their insurance carrier.

In the event a student/camper needs to be seen, we request that a member of your staff call our office to schedule an appointment, accompany the youth to our office and remain until the student has been released.

Students are responsible for payment of any charges that are incurred. Please advise us if your office plans to cover any of the costs a student may incur. There is an office visit fee and some minor costs for supplies/procedures, medications and laboratory services.

Health care education will be provided to all patients. Hours of operation and services provided are available on our website at www.wichita.edu/shs.

To assist us in a smooth transition into summer camp programs, please provide Student Health Services with a list of program participants prior to the program start date.

If you have questions or need additional information, call Student Health Services at 316-978-3620 and ask for me or ask to speak with Sheryl McKelvey, Office Manager, or Heather Stafford RN, Associate Director.

We welcome all visiting students and hope their time at Wichita State University is enjoyable and healthy.
