Disruptive or inappropriate behavior
Courts have ruled that negative action (non-academic) taken against a student must follow processes outlined by the university and must allow for due process. At WSU, this process is outlined in 8.05 of the Policies and Procedures Manual, the Student Code of Conduct. Administration of the Code has been designated to the Assistant Vice President for Student Advocacy, Intervention and Accountability by the President. Taking action outside this process may expose university and/or personal liability. To report disruptive or inappropriate behavior, please fill out an incident report online marked as conduct or contact:
Assistant Director for Student Conduct
Examples could include: mental health concern, eating disorder, suicidal ideation, significant change in personality, significant hygiene issue. To report a concerning behavior issue, please fill out an incident report online marked as concerning behavior or contact any member of the Care Team.
Once you are informed of possible harassment/assault, the university is under obligation to act. You must notify the designated university staff person immediately. Do not promise confidentiality. Encourage individual to report to law enforcement, but do not force them to do so and don’t do it for them. Do not disclose information to any other individual.
