1. Homework Assistance Program (HAP) -
• UBMS program works to assist students in their pursuit of academic excellence providing homework assistance in collaboration with three other pre-college programs hosted by Wichita State University.
• Homework assistance is just that…help with assignments made by school teachers.
• Homework assistance is available to all UBMS students, but is required for incoming freshmen and all students working to earn a 3.5 GPA or higher.
• Attendance is taken and records are kept to track participation.
• HAP is open Mondays through Thursdays from 3:30pm to 6:30pm on the second floor of Brennan Hall.
2. Individual Academic Support (IAS) –
• This program is available for students who need individualized assistance with academic skill building, organizational skills, time management, study skills, etc.
• IAS is staffed by a professional staff member and tutorial staff on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30pm to 5:00pm on the third floor of Brennan Hall in Room 312.
3. Blackboard –
• Regional students can also receive homework assistance through the online service Blackboard
• UBMS tutors are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30pm to 5:00pm to answer any questions students may have.
• Academic Strength Training Workshops (AST) – AST workshops are offered monthly and are a required activity for all local UBMS students. The administrative staff provide students with seminars that focus on academic skill-building. These sessions are offered on the second Thursday of the month and are open to parents/guardians and their students. Dinner is provided.
Activities designed to expand student awareness and broaden cultural and social scopes are planned throughout the program year. All students and professional staff are expected to attend. Most events are planned by the director or his/her designee.
• Campus Visits 
Visits to post-secondary institutions in the tri-state area are planned each semester. Each local student is expected to attend. Regional students may join the group if the transportation route allows for easy pick-up and delivery of students in their home communities.
• In-School Visits
The Director and Curriculum Coordinator make routine visits to high schools and sending TRIO programs, both locally and regionally. These visits are both to recruit potential new students as well as to maintain contact with current students.
