I am unable to log on to staff computer. What do I do?

If you are unable to log on to a staff computer as you forgot your password, then call 316-978-HELP in order to have the password reset. For any other problems, please create a ticket using the ticketing system at https://techhelp.wichita.edu, and the technicians would help you out as early as possible.

I am having domain log-in problems. How to change password for AD?

To change the password for AD domain for your office computer, log on to myWSU. Click on Manage your password and enter the WSU ID and current password, then it will take you to the password management page where you can set a new password.

If you dont remember your current password, click on Manage your password and enter your WSU ID and leave the password blank, now it will ask you for the secret questions. Answer the questions and then you can access the password management page.

I am having domain log-in problems. How to change password for Wichita, AD, ENGR, LAS?

I am unable to access a shared drive.

If you are unable to access a shared drive that you previously had access to, then try relogging. If that does not help, call Shocker Technical Assistance Center at 316-978-HELP, or email at helpdesk@wichita.edu.

Staff Email

Who do I contact to have a new staff email account setup? What information do I need to provide?

If you are a recently hired staff member, and want to have a new staff email account set up, please send an email to helpdesk@wichita.edu with the following information included:

  1. Name ( Last Name, Middle Name, First Name)
  2. myWSU ID number
  3. Phone extension number
  4. Department name
  5. Area within department (For Ex. Women’s Basketball / Athletics)

How do I request a size increase of the mailbox?

If you want to place a request for the increase of your mailbox size, please send an email request to helpdesk@wichita.edu , with your Name, myWSU ID, Email address and the contact number. The present quota available for your mailbox will be checked and would be increased, if possible.

Outlook Configuration

Archiving Files

For instructions on archiving your Outlook email in version older than Microsoft Outlook 2010, Click here.

For archiving your email in Microsoft Outlook 2010 manually, Click on File, then Clean-up tools, then Archive.

For setting up automatic archiving of your email in Microsoft Outlook 2010, Click on File, then Options, then Advanced, then Autoarchive Settings, and then configure your settings on how often you want to archive mails, where to move the items, prompt befor the feature runs, etc.

All the archived emails can be viewed in the Archives folder in your Outlook account.

Loading distribution list

If you want to create a new distribution list in Outlook, go to Contacts, and then click on New Group. Click on Add members to add the members in to the list, then click on Save & Close.

If you want to load a distribution list that you have received from someone, double-click on the distribution list and hit Save.

Offline (not connected)

If you see an "Offline" message in the status bar at the right bottom of the window, please check for one of the following:

Click on "Offline" status message, and see to it that the "Work offline" tab is unchecked.

Make sure you are connected to internet.

Configure on a cell phone

You can configure your staff email account on your mobile phone which supports Microsoft Exchange. If you are on the Active Directory (AD), the server name would be “mail.wichita.edu”, the domain would be “ad.wichita.edu”, and the ID/Password pair would be your myWSU ID/Password pair.

Out of office auto-reply

If you want to set an auto-reply to be sent to those who email you when you are away, go to File, then Automatic Replies, then select Send automatic replies, specify the period of time and the message that you want to be sent as a reply, and then click OK.

Sharing calendars

If you want to share your calendar with someone, open your outlook account, go to Calendar, then click on Share my calendar, and a window with the sharing invitation email is popped up. Enter the email address of the recipient to have the invitation sent to the recipient.

Creating meeting invitations

If you want to create a meeting invitation to a group of people, go to Calendar, then Options, then Plan a meeting. Enter the email addresses of all the people, in the Add Attendees list, and then enter all the other details such as the day and timings of the meeting, etc and then hit Make a meeting. All the attendees will be sent an email about the meeting invitation.

Staff Training Schedules

Where do I find the training schedule?

If you want to look up for a training schedule, log in to myWSU, then go to My Tools, then look for Training / Workshop Registration under WIN Tools. Click on Register to view all the scheduled training sessions, and select the check-box next to the session, fill in your details at the bottom of the page, and then hit Submit Form in order to register for the respective training session.

To view all your registrations, log in to myWSU, go to My Tools, then look for Training / Workshop Registration under WIN Tools and click on Session List.

If you are having trouble with any of the office hardware like desktops PC, printers or scanners provided by the university, please log on to the ticketing system at https://techhelp.wichita.edu using your myWSU ID & password and create a ticket for it.
