Ways to help yourself:

  1. Find a therapist or support group -  talking to someone can help you work through your feelings and improve your overall mental health.  Wichita State University offers counseling services to students, faculty and staff at a reduced rate.  First visit is free.  The number is 978-3440
  2. Create a safety plan - having a plan in place that can help guide you through difficult moments can make a difference and keep you safe.  A counselor can help you create this safety plan.
  3. If you'd rather talk to someone on the phone or communicate via chat or text - the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is 1-800-273-TALK (8255), it's open 24/7 if you want to talk.  Their website also offers a chat option:  http://www.suicidepreventionlifeline.org/GetHelp/LifelineChat.aspx.
