2014 Summer Camp Offerings

There are many academic and athletic camps offered at Wichita State University during the summer. The following is an up-to-date list of what's available.

ACADEMIC CAMPS


COLLEGE OF FINE ARTS CAMPS

WSU Children's Kodaly Choir Camp with Elaine Quilichini
What: A week-long, performance-based camp featuring Elaine Quilchini, artistic director of the Calgary Girls Choir. Daily rehearsals with a public concert in Wiedemann Recital Hall. Recreational activities include visits to the WSU Heskett Center, the Ulrich Art Museum and the Rhatigan Student Center bowling alley. Dorm and day camp options with a well-qualified staff of counselors. Visit www.kmek.org for more information.
When: June 1-6
Where: Wiedemann Recital Hall, WSU campus
Who: Experienced singers, ages 11-16 (boys with unchanged voices)

Cost: Resident (dorm) campers: $450 ($425 earlybird by May 16); day campers: $250 ($225 earlybird by May 16). Some scholarship help is available while funds last.

TRIO Communication Upward Bound Summer Residential
What
: The TRIO Communication Upward Bound (CUB) Summer Residential Program is an academic-based, pre-college program offered four weeks. Participants are exposed to residential living while taking classes to sharpen their communication, public speaking, writing and media production skills. Students also are involved in financial awareness, ACT prep and community service projects.
When: July 6 – Aug. 6
Where: Fairmount Towers and Elliott School of Communication
Who: Students who have been accepted in the CUB program based on federal guidelines.

Summer Youth Program at the Ulrich Museum of Art
What: Guided tours and related art activities for kids’ groups (10 or more) to explore works from the collection and special exhibitions. Pre-registration and advanced notice is required. Children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the activity.
When: Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during June and July. Choice of 9:30-11 a.m. session or 1:30-3 p.m. session.
Where: Ulrich Museum of Art, Wichita State University
Who: Kids ages 5-12; children must be accompanied by an adult through the duration of the activity.

Cost: Each 90-minute tour and make it/take it art activity is $3 per child and requires a minimum of 10 children; adult registration is free with a paid child.

COLLEGE OF HEALTH PROFESSIONS

Advanced Education in General Dentistry Dental Day Camp
What:
This camp is for juniors/seniors in high school interested in the field of dentistry (dentist, dental hygiene, dental assistant). The day camp includes hands-on experience drilling, taking X-rays, pouring molds of teeth and patient observation. 
When: 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Friday, June 20
Where: AEGD facility at 2838 N. Oliver St., corner of 29th and Oliver next to Hughes Metroplex Complex
Who: Juniors and seniors in high school

W. FRANK BARTON SCHOOL OF BUSINESS

Mobile App Camp
What: The Barton School of Business is organizing a mobile app camp for high school students. The camp will include topics related to designing mobile apps and exercises on developing mobile apps for the Android platform. Experts will share their experiences with the participants. Tom McCurdy Golf Camp

Nike Golf Camp
What
: Wichita State University offers both an overnight and day golf camp option for junior golfers looking to take their game to the next level. Golfers will be learning new skills on the putting green, chipping, full swing and instruction on the golf course.
When: Day Camp, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., June 15-19 (all day/night for Overnight Camp)
Where: Braeburn Golf Course, WSU Campus
Who: Boys and girls ages 10-18; all skill levels welcome
