Benefits of Membership

Being a member of an honors organization can bring many benefits to your student life and professional career. It can help you enhance your resume by showing your leadership skills, meet people who share the same interests as you, go to student and professional conferences, publish your research papers, and create a network of references in the field.

Membership in Lambda Alpha is available to students interested in anthropology who meet the standards of scholastic performance set by our organization. Membership is approved by the local chapter, under the supervision of at least one faculty member.

There is a required initiation fee determined by and paid to the National Lambda Alpha Honors Society. Payment of this fee confers lifetime membership. National membership entitles each member to a membership card and a diploma of membership. The following are the minimum requirements for membership consideration:

Undergraduates
Graduates
Current Enrollment Good departmental standing
Completion of at least 12 credit hours in anthropology, with a 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) GPA of 3.25
Overall GPA of 2.5
