Astronomy Test Bank
Wichita State University
This data bank of astronomy questions has been prepared to give students in introductory
astronomy courses at Wichita State University (both 195G and 395G) an idea of the type of
questions that may be given on examinations and quizzes in those courses. Several caveats
should be remembered as you utilize these questions:
- The questions have been accumulated over many years from many sources. Some questions
may no longer be relevant to astronomy today. Others may cover topics which are not
normally covered in our courses here. The instructor will select only questions which relate to
material covered in class.
- New questions are continually being added to the master version of this test bank. Therefore,
some questions not included here may be given on examinations or quizzes.
- Because of the size of this test bank, the questions have not been proof read as carefully as
they would be normally. Because of the difficulties in formatting and spell checking such a
long document, capitalization is often erratic and incorrect. If a question seems nonsensical, it
may be. We apologize for any confusion that typographical errors may create.
- There are far too many questions for you to try to memorize all the questions on a single topic.
Use these questions only as a guide to the type of question that may be included on
examinations or quizzes. We do not recommend that you use this test bank as the sole source
of information as you prepare for an examination. Use class notes, your textbook, and any
study guides or outlines your instructor has provided as primary information.
- Questions have been subdivided into many different topics for ease in selecting questions for
examinations. These topic choices may not be obvious to you, nor necessarily the most
convenient for your purposes. A table of contents is included to help you find the topics you
may be interested in reviewing. While some of the questions in a topical group cover the
materials covered in the course, others may not be important or may be covered elsewhere in
the course.
- This is very much a work in progress. If you find errors in the data bank or have difficulty
using it, please send me a message. You can e-mail your feedback to
david.alexander@wichita.edu.
We hope you find this information useful. Good luck as you prepare for your next test!
