Sigma Lambda Beta Fraternity's

Renegade Rho Beta Chapter

During the fall semester of 2000 eight men (including one man that was already a brother in the Fraternity) came together to discuss the possibility of forming a colony of Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity Incorporated. The men decided to pursue the idea and become a colony at Wichita State.

On September 23, at 11:23:33 PM the seven men began their journey. With the line name of “El Camino Amarrillo” the men began their long hard journey.” On March 15, 2001 at 1:04:36 AM after losing only one member, the men crossed in Newton Kansas. The founding members at WSU were Oscar “El Tigre” Garcia, Victor “Flaco” Garcia, Jorge “Illegal” Fernandez, Angelo “Apostle” Rodriguez, Jason “El Frio” Garcia, and Jason “Juice” Kelly. The man that helped bring the interest to these men was Carlos “Malvado” Contreras from the K-State Chapter.

That following semester the founding line brought together two more individuals to start the Alpha Line. These men took on the name of the “Twin Towers.” They began their journey on December 21, 2001 at 11:45:06PM. After 3 months of hard work and dedication on March 17, 2002 at 1:23:36 AM the two men finally became brothers of Sigma Lambda Beta. The two men that survived this long and hard journey were Alex “Pluma” Castellanos and Patrick “Ice” Raya.

The Beta Line proved to be the biggest test for the colony. Starting with four men and ending with only two, Jeff “El Conquistador” Pacheco and Ricardo “Rico” Herrera began on April 15, 2002 at 11:02:04PM and ended on July 31, 2002 at 1:18:40AM. The name of this line was “Los Soldados Unidos” ( a name that only two men from the original four could live up to).

On December 15, 2002 around 11 PM Central time. Wichita State University Colony after  2 years of hard work received it chapter status as the Rho Beta Chapter. Shortly, after the name Renegade Rho Betas was given to the chapter from a close brother from a nearby chapter in Omaha.
