Brief Bio

Douglas F. Parham, PhD, CCC-SLP, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Wichita State University (Wichita, KS). He is the Graduate Coordinator of the MA-SLP program. Dr. Parham is a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist. He has been the principal investigator or co-investigator on several university-funded grants, a grant funded by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), and an NIH-funded predoctoral fellowship. Among his teaching responsibilities, Dr. Parham teaches graduate-level courses on motor speech disorders, critical thinking, and statistics, and undergraduate-level courses on acoustic phonetics, research, and health care ethics. Since becoming an academic researcher, he has a consistent record of publications and presentations, most of which have included students as co-authors or co-presenters. He was President of both the Kansas Speech-Language-Hearing Association (KSHA; two terms) and the Council of State Speech-Language-Hearing Association Presidents (CSAP).

The Speech-Language Development and Communication Lab focuses on two areas of research in the communication sciences: speech-language development and communicative interaction. The lab's research projects revolve primarily around questions related to speech-language development in infants and children, but the multi-purpose space is adaptable to both child- and adult-related communication research.
