    Major areas of research or creative activity

    Maternal, infant, and child health with an emphasis on addressing health disparities. Research is community-based and collaborative in nature utilizing mixed methods to answer specific community health questions.

    Major areas of teaching

    Epidemiology, Community Health and Development, Social/Behavioral Aspects of Public Health, and interprofessional practicum projects.

    Experiences and knowledge is shared with students through undergraduate and graduate coursework and service-learning opportunities. Students looking to gain community health experience are encouraged to contact Dr. Keene Woods.

    Major areas of service

    Local and state groups working to improve birth outcomes for infants and mothers in Kansas. Off-campus Dr. Keene Woods has been a volunteer for the many maternal and infant health coalitions both locally and at the state level. More recently she has served on the Kansas Public Health Association board as the secretary and communications committee chair. On-campus Dr. Keene Woods serves on numerous college and university committees.
