Bernstorf to lead College of Fine Arts as interim dean, Horn continues as interim engineering dean

Elaine Bernstorf | Elaine Bernstorf has been named the interim dean of the College of Fine Arts, replacing Steven Hedden, who left WSU after one year at the helm of the fine arts college for a similar position at his alma mater, The University of Kansas.
Bernstorf, who had been serving as associate dean of the College of Fine Arts, joined the WSU faculty in 1993. As a music specialist with the Wichita public schools from 1976-1990, she began music programs for autistic, developmentally delayed kindergarten students and secondary mentally handicapped students. From 1985-92 she had been a summer instructor in the graduate music education program at WSU. Bernstorf is a WSU alumna, having earned bachelor's and master's degrees in special music education and the doctorate in communicative disorders and sciences in the area of speech pathology.
Walter Horn, who had been serving as interim dean of the College of Engineering since Feb. 1, will continue as interim dean for the upcoming year.
