Council of University Women brings back 'The Fabulous '50s'

By Carmen Hytche

Rock around the clock or at least the lunch hour with the Council of University Women at its annual scholarship fund-raiser 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, in the Rhatigan Student Center ballroom.

Proceeds from the fund-raiser will support the Council of University Women Scholarship Fund and students at Wichita State University.

The theme is "The Fabulous '50s!" Gals, break out those saddle shoes and poodle skirts. Guys, slick back your hair and turn up the collar on those leather jackets.
Bid in the Route 66 Silent Auction on a variety of great items donated to support the CUW scholarship fund.

Browse the Nifty '50s Gift Shop for a selection of theme baskets and gift items priced at $5, $8 and $12.

Lunch will be served in Don and Shirley's Diner. Tickets are only $8 and a portion of the proceeds will go directly to the scholarship fund.

Each lunch ticket is also a chance to win a "Night on the Town." To increase your chances of winning an evening for two, purchase additional chances to win for $1 each.

Lunch tickets and raffle tickets for the 50/50 Hat and the Night on the Town can be purchased from any CUW member through April 7. Night on the Town and 50/50 Hat tickets will be sold at the door.

If your name is on the lucky ticket drawn in the 50/50 Hat raffle, you win half the money collected in the hat for that raffle. The other half goes to the scholarship fund. Tickets are $1 each.

The winning ticket for the Night on the Town drawing is entitled to a special evening for two valued at $191. The prize package includes a one-night stay at the Candlewood Hotel (3141 N. Webb), movie tickets and refreshments at Dickinson Theatres Northrock, and a Red Bean's Bayou Grill gift certificate.
For ticket information call Dixie Rice at 978-3672.
