Traditional holiday scholarship drive is under way
2:40:36 PM CDT - Thursday, November 04, 2004
The tradition of contributing to the Holiday Card Scholarship Fund that allows faculty and staff to send holiday greetings to the WSU community and help students at the same time is currently under way.
The Holiday Card Scholarship Fund is one of WSU's longstanding traditions, having been established by the late Nicholas Pronko, professor emeritus of psychology. He thought faculty and staff could donate the money they normally spend on cards and postage to help fund a scholarship for deserving students. The donors' names appear in one mass holiday greeting, published in Inside WSU.
The WSU Foundation recently mailed a letter, asking for contributions to the fund. There is no minimum giving amount to be included in the Inside WSU publication, but individuals giving $50 or more can write a message (less than 50 words) that will be included in a special mailing from the foundation to the WSU community.
To be included in the greeting printed in the Dec. 9 issue of Inside WSU, donations must be sent to the Foundation, box 2, no later than Wednesday, Nov. 24. For gifts received after Nov. 24, the donors' names will be published in the first January issue of Inside WSU.
