Stones stage construction to affect campus parking next week
11:48:23 AM CDT - Friday, September 22, 2006
As a result of stage construction for the Oct. 1 Rolling Stones concert starting Tuesday, Sept. 26, campus parking will be restricted in the lot south of Cessna Stadium and the parking spaces between Koch Arena and Cessna Stadium.
Some parking restrictions will be implemented on campus all day Saturday, Sept. 30.
Cessna Stadium will be closed to the public from Saturday, Sept. 23, through Wednesday, Oct. 4, because it is a secured construction zone for the concert. On the day of the concert Oct. 1, no parking will be allowed northeast of Cessna Stadium by Devlin Hall. And for security reasons, no roof top access to campus buildings will be allowed during the concert.
If you don’t plan to attend the Rolling Stones concert, you may want to avoid the WSU campus all together on Sunday, Oct. 1. University police chief Paul Dotson expects the roughly 5,000 campus parking spaces to be gobbled up quickly Sunday afternoon. Once the parking lots are full, police will deny vehicle access to WSU.
In addition, 21st Street will be closed from Hillside to Oliver Sunday, Oct. 1, except for buses transporting people to the campus from satellite parking lots.
