TRANSFERRING PROGRAMS FAQ
How can I put programs on the calculator?
You can transfer programs to your graphing calculator from another calculator using 2ND LINK SEND and
2ND LINK RECEIVE. Use TI GRAPHLINK to transfer programs from computer to calculator using LINK
SEND. When sending a program from the computer to a calculator, the receiving calculator should be
on the home screen.
Do I have to transfer all of the programs in a group to my calculator?
You don't have to, but some of the programs call on other programs to perform certain functions.

Group files have the extension .83g, while individual programs have the extension .83p.
How do I ungroup files in a group file?
You can use TI GRAPHLINK to ungroup files. Files do not have to be ungrouped to transfer them or to
use them, but you can ungroup them to delete certain programs to free more memory. When a group of
programs is transferred to your calculator it will automatically be ungrouped.
Can I put more than one group of programs on the same calculator at one time?
There is not enough room on the TI83 to load more than one group of programs at the same time. There
is not enough room in RAM memory on the TI83 Plus to store more than one program group but many
program groups can be stored simultaneously as applications
Can I edit program files?
Program files are protected, but they can be unprotected in order to modify them. The easiest way to
modify programs is on the computer using TI GRAPHLINK.

How can I remove programs from my graphing calculator?
The TI83 does not have sufficient memory to load more than one of the group files (CHEMBIO,
PHYSICS, PHYSCI, CBLEXPT) at one time. The TI83 Plus does not have enough memory in RAM to
have more than one of these group programs in RAM (on the PROGRAM menu). To delete programs on
the TI83, press 2ND MEM, 5: Reset, 1: All Memory. On the TI83 Plus, choose 2ND MEM, 7: Reset, 1: All

unarchive it. If there is no *, pressing ENTER will archive the program.
Will the programs and information be lost if I remove the batteries from my graphing
calculator?
The graphing calculator has a lithium battery, which serves to maintain memory when the AAA batteries
are removed. Memory will be conserved as long as both the lithium battery and the AAA batteries are
not removed at the same time. TI recommends that the Lithium battery be replaced every 3-4 years.
Why am I getting a MEMORY ERROR message?
You may have too many programs stored on your calculator.
You may be trying to collect too many data points for the amount of memory available.
Using the motion detector along with other probes may produce more data than you have memory for.
You might try collecting less data or deleting programs, lists, matrices, or pictures.
