Storm Chaser Blows Past Students

On Wednesday, April 8th about 100 middle and high school students with an interest in meteorology got the opportunity to safely view some of nature's most violent events. Storm Chaser Warren Faidley was on hand to bring students closer to severe weather than they would ever want to get.

Also on present were Merril Teller of Channel 12 and meteorologists from the National Weather Service who made additional presentations on meteorology experiments, meteorology careers, and severe weather safety.

The free program was the first organized by the Fairmount Center that allowed a speaker from the WSU Forum Board lecture series and local professionals in a related field to interact directly with students.

Mark your calenders now for September 22 as Jean-Michel Cousteau, son of the famous Jacques Cousteau will present Designing our Future. Drawing on his lifetime of exploration and reflection of humanity's impact on the global environment, Cousteau will present a program, highlighted with film footage, that demonstrates our ability to reverse the detrimental effects of the past.

He believes that our environmental challenges can be met through a collaboration of government., industry, and grass roots efforts.

Look for more information as school begins in the fall.
