Making Tornadoes

Concepts:severe weather, convection & air pressure and more

The Tornado shown at the September 16, 1998 meeting was based on the one by the Tornado Project. Here are the complete plans to their Tornado Simulator.

Note: We did not use a hot plate as it presents a fire danger with the cardboard and eventually the window fogs up and the cardboard just gets soggy. Instead, we used dry ice to produce the vapor and a small box fan to draw up the cloud forming the tornado. They don't tell you, but the photo on their page was taken with a tornado simulator that used dry ice.
