MINUTES OF GRADUATE COUNCIL MEETING

The Graduate Council met on Thursday, April 3, 2003 at 2:30 p.m. in Devlin Hall in the 2^nd Floor Conference Room.

Members Present: J. Bryant, P. Kahol (Associate Dean), F. Masud (Student Representative), D. McDonald, L. Mitchell, R. Scudder, E. Steinke, J. Wolff, and S. Yeager

I.                   Approve Minutes of March 6, 2003 Meeting

Minutes of the March 6, 2003 meeting were approved with a minor correction: Under announcements, first bullet, “Create and distribute instead of Create and Distributed.”

II.                Announcements

A “Summary of Graduate Awards over the past 3 years” that included award amount, the name of the applicants’ department, and the names and departments of the winners was distributed to the Council Members.

Council Members will be invited to meet with Library Dean Candidates as they visit WSU campus during later part of April or/and early May.

III.             Graduate Faculty Nominations:

After deliberations on some nominations, a motion was made, seconded and unanimously approved to give full graduate membership status to the following members: Andrew Acker, Dennis Burns, Alan Elcrat, Buma Fridman, Mark Glaser, W. Bartley Hildreth, Kirk Lancaster, Nancy McCarthy Snyder, Kenneth Miller, Hari Mukerjee, Phillip Parker, Kandatege Wimalasena, and John David Wong.

IV.              There was no As May Arise item.
