Beta Theta Pi
“Once a Beta, Always a Beta, Everywhere a Beta”
Beta
Theta Pi fraternity was founded in 1839 at the University of Miami
in Ohio. The Wichita State Beta chapter boasts a historic residence
on Hillside street.
Members of the fraternity have
philanthropic spirit, and the organization takes place in such
projects as Victory in the Valley and the Arts Partners' Tunes on
the Tarmac event.
Beta also offers special events, including the annual Kick Off
Celebration (a retreat to begin each school year), a fall semester
Founders Day (to celebrate the founding of the organization), and
the Beta Cup (an annual golf tournament).
Their chapter facility also offers many amenities, including sand
volleyball pit, secured parking, and two chapter buildings to
accommodate live-in members. Wireless internet, free access to
printing, and more than five study rooms make their house a sound
learning environment. Their house also boasts a House Mother
and Parents' Club. Moreover, a large local alumni-supported
scholarship program awards more than $10,000 annually.
Their Men-of-Principle Development Program is a non-hazing 10-week
pledge period during which members learn the history and principles
of the fraternity. Other programs include etiquette dinners
with the House Mother and Networking Programs with alumni of the
chapter.
Outside the organization, social life is active. Date Parties
and Date Dashes are enjoyed with the sororities on campus, their
annual Beta Stars camping trip builds brotherhood, and their Spring
Formal is always memorable.
Their values set them apart as exemplary students and men:
Lifelong Friendship
Cultivation of the Intellect
Responsible Leadership
Responsible Social Conduct
Commitment to Community
Their mission statement empowers them:
Beta Theta Pi is dedicated to building men of principle for a
principled life. Our brotherhood aids the individual, builds the
Fraternity and strengthens the host academic institution through
lifelong
devotion to intellectual excellence, high standards of
moral conduct and responsible citizenship.
