Purpose:
The purpose of this statement is to set forth University policy with
regard to the utilization of space heaters in University buildings.
Preamble:
Fire prevention and safety concerns require that procedures be put in
place regarding the utilization of space heaters in University
buildings.
Policy Statement:
The University Fire Safety Office must approve the utilization of space
heaters in any Wichita State University buildings. No request for
utilization of a space heater shall be directed to the University
Fire Safety Office until after contact has been made with the Physical
Plant Department to determine if temperature adjustments can be made
and Physical Plant has determined that the area cannot be made more
comfortable.
Implementation:
This policy shall be included in the WSU Policies and Procedures
Manual and shared with appropriate constituencies of the
University.
The Vice President for Administration and Finance shall have primary responsibilty for publication, dissemination and implementation of this University policy.
