Preamble:
Computing and information technology resources are the property of
Wichita State University and are to be used for the primary purpose of
benefitting, enhancing and furthering the mission of the University
(see Section
19.01 and Section
19.05). When the employment
relationship between a University employee and the University ends or
is scheduled to end, whether the result of resignation, retirement or
termination, or when a University employee changes positions and moves
to another University department or unit, it is necessary and
appropriate that the University have access to the computing and
information technology resources provided to and made available to that
employee to facilitate and permit the continuation of University
business.
Policy Statement:
1. When the employment relationship between a University employee and the University ends or is scheduled to end, or when a University employee changes positions and moves to another University department or unit, the employee's supervisor will be given access to the computing and information technology resources provided to that employee.
2. While not required, but as appropriate under the
circumstances, and to the extent reasonably possible, information
personal to the employee maintained or stored in University computing
and information technology resources will be provided to the employee.
3. A University employee or the employee's supervisor may ask
the University's Chief Information Officer to provide access to the
employee's computing and information technology resources to someone
other than the employee's supervisor.
Implementation:
This policy shall be included in the WSU Policies and
Procedures Manual and shared with appropriate constituencies of
the University.
The Chief Information Officer shall have primary responsibility for publication, dissemination and implementation of this University policy.
