20.24 / Designating University Title IX Coordinators

Purpose:
The purpose of this statement is to designate the University officials who have primary responsibility for Title IX compliance.

Preamble:
Title IX of the Education Amendment of 1972 prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity.  In an effort to put in place and coordinate efforts to comply with and carry out institutional responsibilities under Title IX, the University is promulgating this policy.

If you have a complaint against a WSU student for sexual harassment, sex discrimination or sexual assault, you should contact the Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards.  The Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards is responsible for Title IX compliance for matters involving students, including training, education, communication and administration of grievance procedures for all complaints against WSU students.

If you have a complaint against a WSU classified or unclassified professional staff member (or a visitor to campus) for sexual harassment, sex discrimination or sexual assault, you should contact the Office of Human Resources.  The Office of Human Resources is responsible for Title IX compliance matters involving classified and unclassified professional staff, including training, education, communication and administration of grievance procedures for all complaints against staff and visitors, including those complaints filed by students.

If you have a complaint against a WSU faculty member for sexual harassment, sex discrimination or sexual assault, you should contact the Office of the Provost.  The Office of the Provost is responsible for Title IX compliance matters involving faculty, including training, education, communication and administration of grievance procedures for all complaints against faculty, including those complaints filed by students.

If you have a complaint against a WSU student-athlete, coach or administrator for sexual harassment, sex discrimination or sexual assault, you should contact the Senior Associate Athletic Director/Senior Women's Administrator, Rebecca Endicott, who will facilitate the handling of the complaint with the appropriate office. 

If you have a complaint about gender equity in the WSU athletics programs, you should contact the Senior Associate Athletic Director/Senior Women's Administrator, Rebecca Endicott, who is responsible for the Title IX compliance in matters related to gender equity in the WSU athletics programs.

Implementation:
This policy shall be included in the WSU Policies and Procedures Manual and shared with appropriate constituencies of the University.

The Vice President and General Counsel shall have primary responsibility for publication, dissemination and implementation of this University policy.
