Sharpens the language relative to publications of University affiliated corporations.

 

9.01 / Research Administration

Revision Date: February 17, 2004

Provides for additional dialogue and conversation between the Foundation and ORA for distinguishing between grants and gifts.

 

8.12 / Prohibition of Retaliation

Effective Date: February 12, 2004

The purpose of this University policy is to make a statement with regard to the inappropriateness and unacceptability of retaliatory conduct toward those who have filed a complaint or otherwise exercised their rights and privileges against illegal discrimination.  This policy applies directly to both employees and students of the University and can also be found at Section 3.19. 

 

8.11 / Sexual Harassment of Students

This policy was moved from Section 2.02 to accompany other policies relating directly to students. 

 

8.10 / Statement of Nondiscrimination in Educational Programs and Activities

Effective Date: February 12, 2004

The purpose of this statement is to set forth a University policy prohibiting illegal discrimination in educational programs and activities.  This is a companion statement to Section 3.01.

 

6.13 / Grievance Procedures (Unclassified Professional Employees)

Revision Date: February 12, 2004

Clarifies and expands the nature of alleged discriminatory conduct beyond "race or sex."

 

18.05 / Reservation of University Parking Lots

Effective Date: February 1, 2004

The purpose of this statement is to set forth University policy with regard to the reservation of University parking lots for use in conjunction with special University activities or events. 

 

5.08 / Statements on the Professional Rights and Responsibilities of Faculty

Revision Date: January 30, 2004

To add language mandated by the Kansas Board of Regents in December 2003 relating to the use of sexually explicit materials in instruction. 

 

19.05 / University Information Technology Systems Relative to E-mail

Revision Date: December 18, 2003

All University employees will be assigned an "official" E-mail address based on the following format: firstname.lastname@wichita.edu.

 

3.18 / Employee Suggestion Program

Effective Date: November 21, 2003

The purpose of this statement is to set forth University policy with regard to implementation of an employee suggestion program consistent with the authorization provided by K.S.A. 75-37,105.

3.17 / Political Activity

Relocated from Chapter 5.  These and other sections in Chapter 5 were renumbered to eliminate vacant section numbers.

 

11.08 / Smoking

Revision Date: October 13, 2003

Revision made to the existing policy statement so that same is consistent with current University practices.  Smoking is permitted in residence halls in designated smoking rooms.

 

11.07 / Cereal Malt Beverage and Alcoholic Liquor

Revision Date: October 6, 2003

The list of specific buildings where alcoholic beverages may be served in connection with official University events and/or fund-raising activities for University programs has been eliminated.  Alcoholic beverages may be served only in nonclassroom areas of campus facilities or on outside grounds immediately adjacent thereto.

 

18.02 / Emergency Assistance

Revision Date: August 22, 2003

Changes the way medical emergencies are handled on campus.  When immediate medical care is required by a person as a result of an accident or sudden illness, the University Police Department should be notified immediately by telephone.  The University Police dispatcher will send a patrol officer to the location of the injured or ill person and will contact the Wichita-Sedgwick County Emergency Communications dispatcher for an ambulance.  Previously, an ambulance would not be called until after an officer arrived and assessed the situation.

 

11.11 / Scheduling and Utilization of University Apartments in Wheatshocker Apartments

Revision Date: July 28, 2003

Clarifying language added to improve language and better state intent.

 

19.04 / University Web Sites

Effective Date: July 24, 2003

The purpose of this statement is to set forth University policy with regard to web sites and servers affiliated with Wichita State University.  (This policy replaces the former Section 19.10, Commercial Advertising on University Web Pages.)

 

19.08 / Network/System Administrators

Effective Date: July 22, 2003

The purpose of this statement is to set forth University policy with regard to the responsibilities of a Network/System Administrator employed by Wichita State University. 

 

19.01 / Acceptable Use

Effective Date: July 1, 2003

The purpose of this statement is to set forth guidance and policy with regard to acceptable use standards for University computing and information technology resources.

 

19.02 / Content

Effective Date: July 1, 2003

The purpose of this statement is to set forth University policy with regard to unacceptable uses of the University's computing and information technology resources.

 

19.03 / Internet Statement

Effective Date: July 1, 2003

The purpose of this statement is to set forth University policy and to set forth various disclaimers regarding access to and usage of the Internet through University computing and information technology resources.

 

The previous three policies above have been compiled into a new Chapter 19, Technology.  Other technology-related policies have been included in this chapter as well.  The remaining policies that had been in the former Chapter 19 have been moved to new Chapter 20, Miscellaneous Policies.
