PAPER SECTIONS

In a traditional research project (a project where you isolate a variable and subject that variable to some experimental unit) you should have the following sections in your paper. Some research, especially in the area of engineering where you are designing and building something or in an area of science where you might be describing a new fossil or a new species your paper may not have all of the sections or may different sections depending upon the objective of  your study.

Title Page
Abstract – this should be written last
Introduction
Materials and Methods – this should be a paragraph form. Should not be a list.
Results
Conclusions
Acknowledgments
Literature cited – consists only of references used/cited in paper
Appendices
 

Two widely used writing formats are MLA and APA. The KJAS does not require a special format for writing the scientific paper. What is most important is to pick a writing style and stick with it. Be consistent throughout the paper.
