The virtual field trips contain RealVideo8 and RealAudio8 files that require the free RealPlayer 8 Basic player. Versions of the player are available for Win95, Win98, Win2000, WinNT4, MacOS 8.1, MacOS 8.5 and above, and versions of Unix.

As of this time, the Pinnacle Technology field trip is only available for download in a Windows self-extracting exe file. The 17.2MB field trip can be download by clicking here. The file may be saved to any location on your computer.

Once the FieldTrips.exe file has been downloaded, running the file produces a window like the following:

By default, the files will be extracted to a new \KSTEI\ folder on the current drive. (For example, if the program is running on drive C, a C:\KSTEI\ folder is created.) If a different folder is desired, change the text in the "Unzip to folder:" box. Once the desired folder has been specified, click on the Unzip button.

To start the field trip, open the folder that was just created (e.g., C:\KSTEI\) and open the FieldTrips folder inside of that folder (e.g., C:\KSTEI\FieldTrips), and then open the des_pinnacle.html file. The file will appear in the default web browser, and click on the link at the top of the page to start the actual field trip.

Once the file has been downloaded, it may be run as often as desired by opening the des_pinnacle.html file.
