The Lake Afton Public Observatory, in conjunction with the Kansas Astronomical Observers, will host a telescope fair from 7:30 – 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 21st at the Observatory. Members of the Kansas Astronomical Observers will set up their telescopes and be available to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of different types of telescopes. So if you are considering buying a telescope as a holiday gift, or would like to know how to better use a telescope you already have, do not miss this opportunity to talk to the experts and see a number of different types of telescopes in the same place at the same time.

The Observatory’s regularly scheduled program that evening is Exploring the Milky Way, which highlights Jupiter, clouds of interstellar gas and dust, star clusters, and a double star system. The program begins at 7:30 p.m. and lasts until 10:00 p.m.

The Observatory is open to the public every Friday and Saturday evening. Our hours are from 7:30 to 10:00 p.m. October through February.
