Life Story of a Star (WWW Tour)
Exploring the Milky Way (WWW Tour)
 Sunlight reflecting off of the surface of the Moon shows us craters, mountains and smooth, dark maria. Join us as we explore this harsh landscape through the Observatory's 16-inch telescope. We will also take a look at Saturn and its rings (through the end of July) and Neptune.

The Lake Afton Public Observatory is open to the public every Friday and Saturday evening. During July and August, the Observatory's hours are from 9:00 to 11:00 p.m., then in September we will be open from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m.

Admission:

  • $4.00 for adults
  • $3.00 for ages 6 - 12
  • Under six admitted free
  • Family Rate: 2 adults & immediate children or grandchildren $12.00
  • Please note that we are unable to accept credit or debit cards

    • Note: An Observatory program will automatically be cancelled if there is a severe thunderstorm warning or tornado warning anywhere in Sedgwick County during the hour prior to the start of a program. Programs also will be cancelled if travel conditions are hazardous. If possible, the recorded program information at (316) WSU-STAR [978-7827] will be changed to reflect any program cancellations.
