Case Study #4
Deeds and Title Records
Use the parcel of real estate
you chose at the beginning of the semester and go to the Sedgwick County
Register of Deeds website to search for documents relating to your parcel.
Begin by visiting the Register of
Deeds website at
http://www.sedgwickcounty.org/deeds/.
On the right side of this page,
select the Recorded Documents search
link. After completing the registration information and accepting
the terms and conditions, you will find yourself at the
RMIS Instrument Search page.
To search for a document, you will need one of the following for your parcel:
-
Instrument Criteria: If
you know the date an instrument was recorded, you can search based on the
instrument type and date;
-
Party Criteria: One
of the parties involved in the transaction. That could be the grantor,
grantee, mortgagor, mortgagee, or other party;
-
Platted Property Criteria:
The lot and block of your property if it is in a recorded plat; or
-
Unplatted Property Criteria:
The section and quartersection of the parcel if it is not in a subdivision.
When you find a document
related to your parcel, view it, print it and turn it in.
