Please come to my office (311A Clinton Hall). As discussed in class today, I will ask you to explain various parts of your final project. In addition, I will ask you questions about the material from the midterm exam earlier this semester. Finally, I may present a hypothetical market research problem and ask how you would go about working on it. Also, you should be prepared to discuss what grade you think you have earned this semester. May 4, 2011 - On Monday we will simply answer any questions you have about your Downtown Condo reports. Please make sure you have a very complete rough draft for Monday. You won't be able to ask good questions if you haven't tried to work through the entire report. Final drafts will be due on Wednesday. April 27, 2011 - The notes from today are posted. You will also find my spreadsheet from class on the Downloads page. Your assignment for Monday is to complete the analysis I did for Minneapolis with your assigned city. Also, I pulled the tables referenced in today's case for the Wichita, MSA and linked them here. I would like you to calculate the number of Wichita households in the same market segment used in the Elysian Forest case. In doing this, note that you will have to calculate the percentiles for each income range. For example from Table B25118, 1.47% of all owner-occupied households have income of less than $5,000 (2,408/163,702). Similarly, 1.60% of all households have income between $5,000 and $9,999 (2,618/163,702). This means that third percentile of owner-occupied household income is roughly $10,000 (1.47% + 1.60% = 3.07%). You can continue to do this through all income ranges to calculate the percentiles of each income break point presented. We will discuss this exercise on Wednesday.
