Case Study: Carl

Initial Presentation
Carl, a 37-year-old male, comes to your clinic upon the insistence of his wife. He states she has noticed several dark irregular moles on his back and wants you to check. Carl works outdoors and most of his hobbies involve the outdoors. He denies any family history of skin problems and thinks his wife is exaggerating the need to be seen in the clinic. He is a Skin Type I. One lesion on his back below his right scapula is 2.0 cm, black with gray mixture, asymmetrical and oval shaped with irregularity noted on right border. This lesion is surrounded by several smaller black/gray lesions.
