Welcome to the Department of Physics web site at Wichita State University. I am Prof. Nickolas Solomey, Chairman of the Physics department. I am also co-spokesman of the Fermilab Main Injector Particle Production experiment in Chicago, as well as chairman of the Physics section of the arXiv organization for online scientific publications hosted by Cornell University Library. I am the author of an award winning book “The Elusive Neutrino” that brings the exciting world of particle and astro physics to the public. This excitement and in depth leadership knowledge in Physics is helping us shape improvements to the department of Physics in Wichita; one that I feel will make our students competitive with the best in the world, at a very reasonable tuition cost.
On our web site you will find details about our Physics programs, the faculty and our specialized research projects. The undergraduate Physics program for obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Physics is the starting degree for aspiring scientists in this field. We can give you an educational experience that I feel is equal to any major school around the world.
For advanced students who will soon have a B.Sc. in Physics you should be aware that our program is growing and in the fall of 2009 we plan to admit four fully funded graduate students into our Physics Masters of Science program. It is expected that these students will follow onwards to enroll in the Physics Ph.D. program after passing their qualifying examinations. I hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you into this program.
Feel free to drop me an e-mail or call if this program of study interest you, or I f you have any further questions. Thank you for visiting, and best wishes to you in all your future endeavors.
