Degree available with or without liberal arts core requirements. Two-part Liberal Arts sequence The first part consists of two years of humanities seminars concentrating on the reading and discussion of classic writings chosen to raise questions concerning complex matters such as the proper relation between professional ambition and moral ideals, the difference between objective truth and subjective self-interest, and the various uses of art. In the third and fourth years, students select from a group of elective classes ranging from cultural history and performance theory to 20th-century politics and the psychology of creativity. Many courses are team-taught by teachers bringing differing points of view. Resulting activities are stimulating, enriching, and unique to Juilliard.
