vacancies and requested that Senators visit with their colleagues and get
volunteers.
V. Old Business
A. Election of Planning & Budget Committee member-- Senator Turk,
Education, was elected to a three year appointment representing the College of
Education.
B. Department
Administration proposed policy -- President Roussel requested feedback from
the Senators with the ideas from their departments. Most felt that it
should be left to the department, tenured and tenure track. Senator
Vanderburgh, Chair, LAS Council, inquired if there were any Guidelines or
general ideas from other universities. He suggested that it might be
helpful to have such a document giving principles or general guidance on this
subject. After some discussion, President Roussel suggested that this
policy really did not address some of the current issues, that they were to do
with personnel and not faculty governance. Senator Myers, (Hershfield
-2nd) moved that discussion end and the policy be withdrawn from
discussion. Motion accepted
C. Proposed Chronic Low Performance policy - President
Roussel noted the editorial changes made to the policy. Discussion
followed and because more changes were suggested, the vote was tabled until the
October 23, 2006, senate meeting.
VI. New Business

Respectfully Submitted
