Wichita State University Faculty Senate Minutes of the Election Meeting of the 2003 – 04 Senate, May 12, 2003

Members Present:  Bakken, Behrman, Brooks, Carroll, Celestin, Chopra, Decker, deSilva, Dooley, Dudte, Eichhorn, Enns, Goldy, Hershfield, Herzog, Hill, Hodson, Huxman, Johnson, Klunder, Lancaster, Lezotte, Loftus, May, Mcdonald, Moore-Hansen, Myose, Rokosz, Russell, Scherz, Swan, Withrow, Yeager, Zhang

Members Absent: Gill-Hopple, Hiltner, Kear, Krishnan, Ma, May, Ravigururajan, ross, Teshome, Wimalesena, Wolf

Summary of Action:

1.       Completed the Election of the Officers of the 2003 – 04 Senate with the exeception of President-Elect ( which will be held in September 2003)

2.       Completed the Election of new members of the Planning & Budget Committee

I.                   Call to Order:  President Behrman called the meeting to order at 4:10 pm.

 

II.                Informal Statements & Proposals:
A.  Senator Johnson suggested investigating the possibility of finding a new room for Senate meetings.

      B.  Senator Goldy expressed regret that the University doesn't give faculty members greater incentive to run for President-Elect of the Senate.  President Behrman said she had contacted several people about running for the office.  The principal reason people declined, she said, was that faculty no longer have enough time to do all they are called upon to do.

 

III.  Election of Officers for the 2003 – 04 Senate:
            A.  Pursuant to the Election procedures of the Senate the following were elected:
                        Vice President --   Peer Moore-Jansen
                        Secretary          --   Scott Goldy
                        Members of the Executive Committee  --  Sue Enns & Silvia Herzog
                        Member Appointed by the President  --- to be announced in September
 

IV.  Election of Planning & Budget Committee Members:
            A.  Pursuant to the Election procedures of the Senate, the following were elected for three years appointments:
                        Terence Decker --- Business

                        Joseph Mau       --- Education

                        Brian Withrow  ---  LAS Social Sciences

V.  As May Arise:  none
