Two competitive grant programs are available for tenured and
probationary faculty members. The University Research/Creative
Projects Awards (URCA) are made to faculty for pursuit of research and
creative activities during the academic year.
program is intended to assist new probationary faculty in initiating
research, and other faculty in re-establishing a productive research agenda. Up
to $4,500 may be granted for a successful proposal. Summer support is possible
through the Awards for Research/Creative Projects in Summer
(ARCS) program, which provides a are stipends
of $3,000 to enable faculty to enable them
to devote full-time for two consecutive
summer months to their research and/or creative endeavors.
Multidisciplinary Research Project Awards (MURPA) are for research projects
involving two or more investigators that focus different perspectives and
capabilities on complex problems intersecting established areas of study.
University Link Awards (ULINK) require faculty members to partner with community
organizations for community-based research, service learning, and/or
curriculum development projects. Proposals are reviewed by the Faculty
Support Committee, a committee of the Faculty Senate, or, in the case of the ULINK
competition, the WSU-LINK advisory Board. pursue research.
Both grant programs are meant to stimulate the development of proposals for
external funding in appropriate disciplines. Complete information on these
programs, including material to be submitted and deadlines, can be obtained from
ORA. Awards based on these recommendations, are made by the
Associate Vice President for Research and Director of Research Administration,
based on recommendations from the Faculty Support Committee,
and are subject to the availability of funds. Guidelines and

All University-supported research projects are administered in accordance with established fiscal procedures and research policies, including those relating to export control, patents, animal care, hazardous materials, and human subjects. ORA provides necessary management assistance and related services for University supported grant recipients.
