Minutes of the Election Meeting for the 2009 - 2010 Faculty Senate

MEMBERS PRESENT:  Anderson, Baker, T. Bennett, Brooks, Celestin, Craft, Decker, DeSilva, Driessen, Henry, Hershfield, Horn, Klunder, Kreinath, Lewis-Moss, Lezotte, Miller, Moore-Jansen, Mosack, Myers, Pickard, Rillema, Rokosz, Ross, L. Russell, Scherz, Skinner, Smith-Campbell, Soles, Spurgeon, Yeager, Yildirim

MEMBERS ABSENT:  Baldridge, Bryant, Dale, Hu, Monroe, Strattmann, Taher, Thompson

MEMBERS EXCUSED:  J. Bennett, Carruthers, Hemans, D. Russell, Wolf

ORDER OF BUSINESS

I.      Call of the Meeting to Order at 4:15

II.     Informal Statements and Proposals -  None

III.   President’s Report:   None

IV.   Committee Reports:

     A.   Rules Committee

President Soles said that after the senate elections there were some vacant senate seats to fill, and that the Rules Committee had nominations to fill the following seats:

Julie Scherz, Health Professions

Chris Brooks, LAS Humanities

Paul Rillema, LAS Math/Natural Sciences

Syed Taher, LAS Math/Natural Sciences

Les Anderson, LAS Social Sciences

Jens Kreinath, LAS Social Sciences

The senate approved the nominations of these senators unanimously.

V.     Election of Officers for the 2009-2010 Faculty Senate:

President – Elect:  Frederick Hemans - Senator Klunder moved the nominations be closed.  Senator Peer Moore-Jansen seconded.   Senator Hemans was elected unanimously.

 

Vice President: Steven Skinner - Senator Klunder moved the nominations be closed.  Senator Peer Moore-Jansen seconded.    Senator Skinner was elected unanimously.

 

Secretary --  Johnnie Thompson - Senator Klunder moved the nominations be closed.  Senator Peer Moore-Jansen seconded.    Senator Thompson was elected unanimously.

Members of the Executive Committee: Rhonda Lewis-Moss and Julie Scherz - Senator Klunder moved the nominations be closed.  Senator Peer Moore-Jansen seconded.    Senators Lewis-Moss and Scherz were elected unanimously.

President Soles announced that her appointment to the Executive Committee will be Senator Daniel Russell.

VI.     Election of members to the Planning and Budget Committee:

The following senators were elected to serve on the Planning and Budget Committee:

Terence Decker, Business

Jo Bennett, Education

Kenneth Miller, LAS Math/Natural Sciences

Peer Moore-Jansen, LAS Social Sciences

Meeting was adjourned at 4:40 p.m.
