Scholarships Opportunities
Women's Studies Scholarships 2006-2007
 
Eligibility
- Full-time or part-time students
- Undergraduate students working on a major, minor, or BGS in
Women's Studies at the time of application and receipt of
scholarship
- Graduate students with a Women's Studies concentration in
the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MALS) program
- Graduate or undergraduate students with a background in Global Learning or an interest in the Plaza of Heroines
Yearly Scholarships
(offered in the spring for following fall-spring academic year)
General Scholarships - up to $500 each
Open to both graduate and undergraduate students
Forum for Executive Women (FEW) - $180
Open to women students with Junior or Senior standing, a minimum
GPA of 3.5, and evidence of leadership qualities
YWCA Bessie Davis Mansfield Scholarship - $250/semester
Open to all eligible students. Chosen by the Women's Studies
faculty and awarded directly by the Wichita YWCA
Part-time Graduate and Undergraduate Assistantships - $700-$1,500
This particular award carries with it the opportunity to work with Women's Studies
faculty mentor 5-10 hours/week (flexible hours, by assignment); this is especialy for students interested in an academic career.
Conference Scholarships*
Partial funding for students to attend or present papers at local or national scholarly conferences. The conference, session, or paper must be related to Women's Studies or Women's issues. Students may apply throughout the year.

Application Instructions
I. Fill out the form completely and legibly. Please type if necessary.
II. Attach the following: (statements should be typed)
- A list of your extracurricular activities, offices held, academic
recognition, awards/honors and community service
- A statement describing your need for a scholarship and how this
assistance will help you achieve your goals
- An essay (1-2 pages) in which you discuss your perspective on any
aspect of Women's studies or a women’s social or cultural issue, your
interest in the Plaza of Heroines or how you see yourself in relation to
global learning and women’s issues
- If interested in an assistantship, a brief statement of interest
- If applying for a conference scholarship, a description of the
conference (a copy of the conference announcement is preferred), a
statement of why you think it will be academically beneficial for
you to attend the conference, a statement on whether or not you will
be presenting a paper at the conference, and an estimate of the total
cost of your attendance
